IMG 2585 Villers Bretonneux - I went to Villers Bretonneux in the Somme for the ANZAC Day ceremonies in April - After the war Australian schoolkids raised money to rebuild the school in the town. It is named 'Victoria College'. IMG 2599 Villers Bretonneux - In the windows of the school there were pictures of Australian animals that the schoolkids had made. This was my favorite. IMG 2607 Villers Bretonneux - The logo of the town is the kangeroo, and the Australian flag is flown everywhere. This is the front of the town hall. IMG 2609 Villers Bretonneux - This is the main cafe in town, notice the kangeroos. IMG 2660 Amiens IMG 2667 Amiens - This building is the main landmark in Amiens. At one time it was the tallest building in Europe.

A couple of years later it was damaged by the advancing German armies. Notice the shrapnel damage. IMG 2771 Villers Bretonneux - The Australian War Memorial.

IMG 2825 Villers Bretonneux - In every classroom at the school they have a sign like this above the blackboard. It reads "Never forget Australia". IMG 2852 Villers Bretonneux - The town is twinned with my home town of Robinvale. This is an old photo of Robinvale that I found. IMG 2853 Villers Bretonneux - When the two towns were twinned Robinvale donated a family of stuffed 'red' kangeroos. I think we need to give them some new ones as these had shrunk from age and were very scary looking. IMG 2868 Amiens
