1 This is a public bus in Irkusk. Note the grill missing from the front - you can see it through the window on the inside of the bus.
2 This is the view of Irkutsk from the train. Most of the old houses are wooden and have ornate wooden decorations on the eves, windows and doorways.
3 This is a McDonalds in Moscow. I just like the cyrlic characters.

5 In Ex-Soviet countries they don't mess around with lowering a flimsy boom over railway crossings - they just raise up a couple of steel things to stop you crossing. Much more effective.

9 This is one of the places the train stopped for a few minutes in Siberia. I took pictures as I don't think I have ever seen anywhere that was as desolate as this place.
